April 12th Update

We just received a new shipment of LED Tail lights from Europe, these include the GTI Cherry Red, and the Golf R Tinted lights.

I adjusted the prices a bit, so they are a bit more reasonable, you also have the option of buying without the adapters if you don't need them, or don't want to use them to save yourself a few dollars.

For the Mk 7.5 lights, these are still very expensive to get, you guys probably don't want to pay over $1K for a set of tail lights, so we have to wait till the prices comes down a bit.

Just remember, these are OEM parts, they use higher quality plastics than replicas, and are designed to last the life of your cars. Most replica tail lights, give it about a year before you notice them fading away.

To order the Golf R or GTI Tails, visit us at: www.becautoparts.com

I just placed an order for the Tinted Golf R Taillights. Can you explain exactly what the situation is for the LED reverse lights? Will they be needed if they are going in a Golf R?

LED reverse bulbs are not needed on the Golf R, it is optional.

Basically, the Golf R uses a different CECM, lighting control module than the over versions.

Getting ready to order a OEM China cherry set+adapters but had a couple (possibly stupid) questions:

1) Do the OEM China tail lights come with a rear fog light too? If so, what side?

2) The OEM China tails are the darker cherry color and not the brighter red color correct? Are there any color variations between the European and the Chinese lights?

OEM China is the bright red color. The European Cherry Red is the one that has dark sides (comes standard in Euro GTI's). Tinted is the Golf R/R-line one (and Clubsport/S).

Here's an image from DAP.

See that's what I thought and it's confusing me. I was under the impression that the Asian market tail lights are bright red based on that picture I saw but the way they are listed on the BEC site has me confused. Both the China and European lights are listed as "Cherry Red'.

That's the page I'm looking at on BEC. There doesn't seem to be anything to indicate that there are any variations in color?

So there's basically three options for these tails right?

1)As is, plug and play
2)Adapter Harness
3)Adapter Harness+Dynamic Turn Signaling

What exactly does the the adapter harness do?

What about the dynamic turn signaling? Is that the scrolling effect? Or basically the inner and outer lighting at different times

Plug&Play - they'll work like the non-LED tail lights. No amber turn signal.

Adapter harness - needed to make the Amber turn signals function (won't work without them)

Dynamic turn signal - delays the outer amber turn signal for a dynamic effect. You still need the adapter harness since they're needed to make the Amber turn signal work.

There are only 3 variations on the Euro style lights , forget about where they are made.
My car is Tornado Red with cherry red tails ( middle on the photo) I didn't buy the R because I thought that they were too dark for a red car, they look great on a blue GTI/R

Huh... you're right. I'd e-mail Ed at BEC, he'll probably reply to an e-mail faster than asking here.

There is 2 variations of LED lights sold by VW in the China market "Bright Red" and "Cherry Red". There is no car available in China with "Cherry Smoked" so they don't sell them in China and only available in the Euro market.

Bright Red = http://www.vw.com.cn/cn/models/Golf.html
Cherry Red = http://www.vw.com.cn/cn/models/GTI.html
