Driver profile selection - retrofit possible?

I spoke to my local dealer in Ireland...he told me that I can't retrofit the driver mode button because he needs to change a module to do it.

Can this be true??

I just want the driver mode selection because of having economy for long boring drive to work and then being able to give it louder exhaust note...

Surely they can put this on for me??

Can this be true?
a module? what module? maybe dcc?

and did they say anything about Odis?

so this retrofit isnt possible without the dealer?

Correct. A Functional Enablement Code needs to be installed via ODIS by the dealer. That is how VW parcels out features. For example, in some countries there is an additional charge for CarPlay. VW has to activate the feature and they charge you for the activation code. It is not simply a switch connected to BCM and vagcom changes.

Here are a couple threads concerning.
This is an excellent thread courtesy of Shapeshifter that explains FeCs: http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30577

This is the FeC I had installed for VW Car Connect Activation Code to get CarPlay after I did a MIB1 to MIB2 swap. http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31600 I had to purchase the FeC as my 2015 did not originally come with CarPlay. The activation document comes with a specific activation code, activation number and PIN code. When installed it is married up to your VIN and is a one use item. In my DIY I list all the FeC I know of and there VW part number, added below.

The Driving Modes Activation Document part number is 5G0054809. So you can see what the VW document 5G0054809 looks like. http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38745

This is the best price I found on the activation document. http://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/vw-...4809-software/

It could be possible that your Body Control Module does not support. I just noted in your signature that this is a Golf R, if this is a Golf R surely your BCM supports.

From my article: For reference, these are the FeC’s I know of:
5G0054830A - App-Connect $208
5G0054809 - Driving Modes. $118
5G0054802 - Voice Activation. $138.
5G0054802A - Voice Activation with Navigation. $230
5G0054801 - Driver Alert.
No FeC for Performance Monitor that I know of.

Golfdave did a retrofit of ESC. ESC does not need to be activated through a FeC which is why it could be done without purchasing the activation software from VW.

The reason I have is when I activated Car Connect I lost my drivers mode. I purchased thinking that I required to reactivate. However I did not as my car originally came with the driving mode FeC installed so I just needed to reactivate. Your VIN has all the appropriate FeC that came with your car in the VW database. All FeC are in your infortainment unit, so if your infotainment unit breaks they can reinstall for the FeC you have associated with your VIN. You can add new features by buying the activation code from VW.

You can also purchase Driving Modes activation code 5G0054809 here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Volkswagen-5G0054809-Driving-Profile-Selection/dp/B06WD19VWM or here which is where I purchased mine: http://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/vw-audi-seat-skoda/vw-audi-seat-skoda-5g0054809-software/

My gateway is 5Q0 907 530 AC so I do not see how that could be a problem with your gateway.

My body control module is 5Q0 937 087 N. I see your BCM is 5Q0 937 084 AS which someone stated is highline version. We are going from connector C-3 to pin 34 on BCM connector closest to driver and C-6 to pin 21. When I look at the connector pin 21 is 4 up from bottom (of small pin row) and 34 is 17 up from bottom. What I have found is if there is a pin there on the BCM at those locations that driver mode is likely supported. When I googled pictures of both the 5Q0 937 087 and 5Q0 937 084 modules I see pins at those positions, so my best guess is that module does support driving modes.

I have found that most of the big brains hang out a Ross-Tech in the retrofit section http://forums.ross-tech.com/forumdisplay.php?10-Retrofits. You may want to ask over there if someone has experience retrofitting driver modes with a BCM 5Q0 937 084.

I do not have a FAZIK connection with VW so I have no visibility into your failure or what you are seeing. I have someone else do this for me. Sorry, but I do not believe I can help with ODIS.

Sorry, but that is the extent of my knowledge.

Yes we have installed the driving profile. Have hacked with a different chassis number. We can’t install with license.

my car came stock with DPS and both BCM and Gateway were MID, so that is not the reason.

the official requirements are "ONLY WITH CRUISE CONTROL AND/OR AUTO TRANSMISSION". so if your car is a manual WITHOUT CCS, that might be it.
