P2263 fault code on 1.4 tsi blue motion

Daughter has this vehicle and just recently the engine management light has been coming on. Every now and then the EPC light also comes on and the vehicle goes into limp home mode.
The only fault code showing is P2263 Turbo boost system performance.
The fault only occurs if the car is cold. When warmed up, if the engine is restarted there are no warning lights and all is fine.
I think I can discount the turbo, as I think if it was terminally faulty the car would show signs of power loss/smoke etc all the time.
So Im after some advice......what could throw this fault code up?

does it make loud owl/pigeon noise....whooooo...when you press the accelerator past 2,000rpm when cold??...

Chancers are its the servo actuator arm sticking....all VW turbo suffer this or a rattle...look in my sig for how to guide link..I did one for fixing the servo...yours is slightly different, but I can give you the specifics...

Thanks Dave, Ive pencilled in Sunday to have a look, I’ll try that first. She did say the garage who did the MOT ‘greased’ something that was ‘sticking’.I’ll speak to them tomorrow to see what they actually did!

Update.

Before I looked at her car, my daughter reported her car stereo kept ‘changing radio stations’ on its own.
I commented it sounds odd but unconnected with the reported fault.

Anyhow I looked at the actuator arm etc. All looks well and I couldnt really see any problem.
I cleared the code.
Despite there being no codes the car refused to rev past 3500 under no load, however when I took it on the road it pulled away perfectly. No issues and drove upto the red line.
Thinking Id fixed it, i stopped turned engine off. Turned engine on again and epc light came on. However car still drove fine, full power etc. Off and on again and light is off.

Daughter goes to work this morning and has reported the temp gauge is now erratic! It showed normal temp and has dropped to cold three times in a 4 mile journey.

Any other thoughts?

without seeing a full VCDS scan I can't say anything except dealer visit....you have several intermittent faults which will not register fault codes in most code readers & only VCDS will reveal them...

It could be a damp connection at the engine ECU...

Had this on VCDS now.
As can be seen there are three faults.
Low boost.
Low battery in remote
And a dirty connection on the instrument head.

Do the figures point to anything for the boost pressure?

The bold bits in the engine section are too high eg the mV required to operate the servo actuator means that the pivot joint is seizing......

Just look at my thread & the links in it for the adjustment that's required to be done ...you might have a threaded rod that's you adjust...

No problems, its just as I suspected at the beginning..

I recon that this will be a well known fault in the next few years....mind you it is now...


Just to sort once & for all you have to remove the servo unit & remove/scrape all the crud from the pivot & then grease with proper grease...

"just greasing it" is just a temporary fix as the old crud is still interfering in the movement of the pivot...

If you are DIY the job use the VW hot bolt paste as cheaper than what I got & is what VW are using from the factory (now)
