Painting brake rotors to prevent rust

So not too long ago I upgraded my front brakes to the NQSBBK off a boxter. The kit allows you use stock rotors but the pads will only sweep about 80% of the surface, leaving a slight ring where the pad doesn't make contact. I knew to expect this but now that rust is forming on the un-swept part, its becoming more and more noticeable. So my question is can I cover this up with caliper paint after cleaning the rust off? Are there any other solutions?

Thanks, I never thought to use clear hi-temp paint. I like that idea. I'm guessing if I were to use anything other than clear like black, I would have to put down a layer of primer first.

I didn't use any primer. Just used Scotch Brite to clean up of all rust and clean it really good with rubbing alcohol before painting.
