DMFW on its way out?

Ok... I think my DMFW is officially shitting itself now.

https://youtu.be/cWG31k2Su34

Video of sound here. Chatters and clatters and blatters when I hold clutch at bite point, sound subsides but still can be heard faintly with clutch fully engaged, and no sound when clutch in. Also rattles when I turn off the vehicle, and doesn't if I turn the vehicle off with clutch in.

Still drives fine, doesn't slip, and the only difference it makes is that I can't install my dogbone insert because slipping the clutch causes this rattle to shake my entire car.

Ya doesn't sound normal. Possible the TOB and not the actual DMFW would be my other guess, but both suck and might as well put in a new clutch if you do the TOB

ok well... I've had my clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, AND dual mass flywheel all replaced by the dealer and yet I still hear this chatter. Can someone help me try to identify the source of this sound?
I'm thinking it's the input shaft bearing. Noise is gone when clutch pushed in, noise is there when clutch is let out, and is loudest at bite point.

I think a similar thing happened to my car when I had my clutch replaced. Installer drove the car around the block and realized that he installed something backwards... maybe the pressure plate? Don't really remember, but he reinstalled it again and everything was normal.

Backwards?! Christ. I definitely need to get this checked out again.

It's not the dual mass flywheel chattering. It's the transmission rattling a bit at idle. My car rattles at idle as well. Sometimes more, other times less.

With a solid flywheel there could be substantially more chatter:

Common mistake, he likely installed the friction disk backwards.

When I got my GTI new (100 miles) I had a similar rattle, thought it was the TOB, the dealer replaced the DMFW (from VW instructions), then they ended up replacing the whole gearbox (breaking the plastic tranny locking pin in the process LOL). They did not replace anything in the clutch (PP, disc, TOB), kept my car there for 2 weeks.

Needless to say that dealer will never see my car again :)
