Net Neutrality

It's too little too late, no one is going to change the FCC's view but everyone should contact their local Representative to let them know they stand with Net Neutrality none the less.

There is literally zero benefit for the end user (internet users) to end net neutrality, it will potentially turn the internet into this:

tl;dr - the internet is fucked, prepare for the suck. Please still and try to do something about it.

It's what happens when the regulators (when there were such things) are ancient fogeys who have zero clue about technology and treat the Internet like an entertainment choice and not a vital service like phone, electric, and water. You let existing communication companies with huge sunk costs into infrastructure run it all, give them virtual monopolies in most areas, and effectively prohibit real competition due to the prohibitive costs of a newcomer creating said infrastructure.

Hence, you wind up with the existing players doubling down on their stranglehold on the ISP business and trying to recoup their losses from the tanking of traditional cable television revenue models. It gets justified with all sorts of hooey about competition and free market, when neither is really applicable in this case, but it's pure robber baron capitalism plain and simple.

Then again, we live in a country where even critical health care is not considered a human right, but rather just another commodity. Never mind the fact that without broadband access many people across the nation can't work, have little social contact, and overall suffer a severe degradation of their daily life--sort of like not having electricity, really.

I think it has more to do with the big money interests getting their way than with age. Their orange buddy most likely doesn't understand the subject . All they had to do is tell him this is what big business wants and, oh yeah, Obama was for net neutrality and he'll be against it.

Agree with everything said above by everyone. This is some eerie shit. Here we thought we were in the clear with the last FCC guy. Then he leaves, now we're screwed again. They were just waiting quietly, for their moment to take back control. They haven't won yet. From what I understand, there will be lawsuits aplenty, and all sorts of other challenges for the Globalist creeps to wade thru.

Communism doesn't work, and Capitalism barely hangs on, both due to human greed and corruption. It wouldn't have made any difference who won the last election. They will steer us to the same place either way. It will be a miracle if the good guys win, because evil is getting very good at fake news and manipulation. They have us fighting each other. "The first casualty in war is Truth". What's going on now in this world is scary. Or maybe it's always been that way, except now we're that much closer to their end-game.

Happy Thoughts! :) Now everyone go and enjoy their Thanksgiving leftovers!!

Certainly this administration is a godsend for the rapacious bastards of Wall Street. But the overall push for this has been going on for a long time now, and I do think it's rooted (beyond the sheer inertia of capitalism itself) in the structural characteristics of the telecommunications market. And that market in the US is old, and rests on copper, wooden poles, and miles and miles of cable.

My local congressman here in Austin has taken over $800k from the telecoms, almost a Million bucks!

Texas also has laws preventing municipalities from creating their own networks.

This is all very frustrating.
