Anyone know of any current discounts/deals on oil right now?

Sorta messed up that the Walmart Pennzoil product page is for 0W-40 and the picture is 5W-30.

I didn't realize Mobil 1 0W-40 Euro has MB-Approval 229.5. Why pay more then?

MOBILE ONE is slowly losing its approval from various companies. I read bmw removed their certification a year or two ago. Then again I don't have a source to back this.

If memory serves right, I don't think it was because it was bad oil, just that it won't hold up.

More likely because they didn't pay the car manufacturers enough money.

It's because BMW is switching to 0w-20 for its new B58 engines to meet fleet fuel economy targets.

Notice the Pennzoil Euro 0w-40 doesn't have LL-01, however, the BMW Dealer oil is Shell.

b/c its not a fancy German or Euro sounding name that you can brag about on your VW forums!

M1 0w40 is the best value vw502 oil and perfectly fine for everyone's MK7.
Even better, they have $12 rebates a couple of times a year. Stock up and its about $2/qt.

but again, you can't brag about your L'douche boutique oil brand then.

M1 0w40 had a recent reformulation where the oil is now thinner but with more additives.

I've recently switched to 0w40 castrol edge and oil temps are cooler, slightly better mpgs and the motor itself seems to be quieter, significantly less valve train noise.

Maybe.

I think the GTL Pennzoil is still a better buy though.

It has MB 229.6 as well as Ferrari specifications, and costs the same as M1.

GTL pennzoil? Are you referring to 0w40 platinum?
