my GTI recently displayed a check engine light after checking the codes the following appeared, "P2185 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor #2 Circuit High Input." A brief description of what is happening with the vehicle; during slow city driving the coolant temperature gauge spikes and the fans kick in to full. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are 2. One down on the lower left corner of radiator right in front of where the belt is. See this wire running along the frame that has the bright spot from the flashlight on it? That's the sensor.

The second is on the block down and left of the HPFP. Charge pipe has to come off looks like.

Thank you, anyway to tell which one is throwing the code?

Found my problem, the sensor near the frame rail was rubbing on the serp belt and cut one of the two wires for that sensor. Just spliced it back together, cleared codes, and all is well. Thank you for the help guys
