MPS A/S 3+ Speed Rating

I noticed that the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ is offered in the following configs.

- 225/40/18 (Y speed rating only)
- 235/40/18 (H or Y speed rating)

Considering the H speed rating is good for max 130mph/210kmh, I know that this is more than I need for my DD. Also noting that the stock Hankooks are also H speed rated.

Worth noting is the price difference as well (Tirerack USD).

225/40/18 92Y - $169
235/40/18 95H - $181
235/40/18 95Y - $193

I was already leaning towards a 235 tire, so it would seem that the 95H would be the best choice.

Is there an expected difference in ride quality/grip performance between H vs Y speed rated tires?

Other noteworthy spec differences between the 235 H and Y speed rated models, from Tirerack (for what these specs are worth).

235 95H / 235 95Y
- Rim Width Range: 8.5-9.5 / 8-9.5
- Meas Rim Width: 8 / 8.5
- Section Width: 9.4 / 9.5
- Tread Width: 8.4 / 8.2

Odd that the 95H rim width range is not also 8-9.5, considering the measuring rim width is 8”.

Planning to use the Austins for a bit longer but will eventually move to 8” / 8.5” wheels. Have read that the Austins are closer to 7.75” wide even though listed as 7.5”.
