AS you will see from my sig, I have the 5-year one.
I figured as the warranty cost the same regardless of the price of the car it more worthwhile with a fully-spec'ed GTi, than perhaps a base model. There is much more to go wrong...

I asked about extended warranty while ordering our new MK7.
TDI/TSI Man/DSG were all the same price.
Its a VW product via Allianz. 12 months unlimited Km ~$3300.
24 months $3900.
If the TDI or DSG were so bad then it would cost more that the TSI man.
Also does not cover DFP or CATs.
There are different products, confusingly both are "official".
One is via Allianz and usually with finance. The other is a straight "bolt-on", like a check box from VW head office that just extends the standard warranty to five years from three. I took this option with our Trendline for $1,750.
Wow, they're expensive there. In the States VW has endorsed Fidelity Insurance, and I purchased their 7-year/70,000-mile/0-deductible mechanical breakdown agreement for $1548.
