New to the JB4 family
Hey guys,
I'm thrilled to have gotten my JB4 installed yesterday. My new 2017 Golf 1.8TSI was pretty spunky already, but this seemed like a great option to bump the power with minimum investment.
The unit was pretty easy to install, plug D wasn't an issue. The only trouble I had was the ODB-II cable. It was very hard to get it thru the firewall since I didn't want to remove the battery. Other than that, no problems. She started up with no errors or warnings. I drove to Shell and filled up on V-power Nitro+ 91. Today on my commute to work, I didn't push hard (WOT). On my way home, I gave her a little push and she was very lively.
The power delivery is very smooth like other people have mentioned. I didn't get the Bluetooth kit yet, so I think I'm on Map 1. Once I get the kit I'll probably see how Map 2 feels and look at Map 6.
I'm not planning to do a down pipe or intake for now (she's only 3 months old!). But I'm satisfied and look forward to playing around with it in the coming weeks. Thanks to everyone's posts, especially George Smooth. You gave me the confidence that I could do it. This mod is my first recommendation to anyone with a Golf.
Mahalo!
