Greetings everyone,

Topic pretty much say everything but i was wondering if its possible to do a DSG oil change without having the DSG oil temperature via the OBD2 port. I don't have access to any OBD2 tools right now and i need to do my DSG oil change. How long does it take to reach 35C? I know that the outdoor temperature etc will affect the time required.

Cheers!

Hello George,

Yeah i've seen your post but wasn't a 100% sure , so simply filling by +0.1L would be perfect then i assume =).

Thanks.

If level when drained (so all oil is out), then add 4.7L with new filter. To level I used level on roof in position that was level, drove up on ramps, and jacked up rear until level positioned in same place shows level. If more or less then 4.6L drains out that is because it was either low or high from last fill/factory. There have been reports of some that are a couple of tenths low from factory. I found mine to be spot on from expected if properly filled.

I simply replaced the exact amount I drained out. Btw, I used Febi-Bilstein fluid and it's shifting a bit smoother than on the oem fluid. Mainly noticeable on the 2 to 1 downshift which could be a bit jerky before.

This is a fantastic idea...

Sadly I happened to get under my '18 R while it was on a hoist, and noted a neat tunnel like access to the DSG filter from under the car! Looks like you don't need to pull the intake anymore, and with the filter now oriented on its side, the funnel method would be a bit more difficult - trying to ensure a good seal at the filter housing...

I guess I'll buy the bottom fill kit and go from there!
