Both my brother and sister are millennials since they were born in the 90s, so I hear this stuff often (they're also 14 and 15 years younger than me). I find myself between generations since I didn't grow up with Internet and social media. I like the term that they've come up with for the short time period of late 70s and early 80s described here:

In our defense and on behalf of all millennials I’d like to blame Kim Kardashian for bringing most of these terms to the mainstream and depending on who you ask 1980 makes her generation x.
