Didn't drill a single hole, took the black dots out and I used 3M 03609 Scotch-Mount 1/2" x 5' Molding Tape instead.

How does the tape interact with your paint? Not that I’d be taking the mount off, just curious. And how well does it adhere? No issues with it becoming loose or rattling?

I used this tape since 2005 on various vehicles in Europe and the US. No issues so far, you need fishing line to "cut" the foam and then you have to rub the tape off. I use Isopropyl alcohol to clean the paint before I apply it. By the way trim pieces or logos are attached to cars with 3M tapes for ages now.

Question @Sandman GTI, did you keep the acorn nuts that come with the bracket, or replace them with ones of another material? When I painted the bracket I obviously taped off the screws, but I don’t want any corrosion or rust between the acorn nut and screw.
