Max tire tread depth differences

Hi all,

Do I need to have my new tire shaved down to the same depth if my other 3 are at 7/32? I know even tread depth is important for AWD but not too sure how it applies to the GTI.

I plan on taking the car to the track so I'm curious if the consistency and grip will be affected much. (tires are summer high performance, not slicks)

Assuming your new tire is 10/32nds, it isn't enough of a difference to matter. If the new tire is on the front axle, you may notice a slight pull, but that's basically it.
