Has anyone here had success retrofitting the ambient lights on a golf that's not Highline trim? I saw a thread here but it was old and hasn't been updated since.

Ive added footwell lights but i would like to try adding the red door stripe and maybe even lit door sills someday... i need to pull a door panel off and try a test of the door stripe to see if I can get it to work.

Do these just plug into the door modules? I have the modules from a Golf R now, so I think I can have the lights now. But my main concern for the door panel light strip is that the existing trim is plastic welded in place and not easily removable.

This could be one of a inexpensive option., dimming is controlled by the 58X Dimmer connection (signal powering the window switch illumination).
