18x8's on stock Hankooks

Anyone using this setup? Picked up a MK7 GTI SE and still learning the ropes.

I'm trying to upgrade from the stock 18x7.5 (et49) to 18x8 (et45) without changing the stock Hankook's (225x40R19).

Yes I've used www.willtheyfit.com but this tells me a bunch of stuff I don't really understand, as a car newbie. Trying to get a first-hand review.

I’ve never read of anyone having issues installing a 225 tire on an 8” wide wheel. Some have even stretched the stock tires onto 8.5” wide wheels, without issue.

But I think that most would agree, if you go 8.5” wide wheel, you should go 235 tire.
