Good thread though. Came across http://www.szswill.com - looks good..
Someone kept sticking things on my car in my mums private carpark, they stuck nails under the tyres, and damaged the paint, I was looking for a cam to catch them in the act, but lucky for them they moved out before I decided whether or not to buy one, Like you OP, I found I was baffled by all the choices, and gave up looking..

This is my solution. I bought a camera similar to Monsta's from focalprice http://www.focalprice.com/ER1488B/B...20P_Drive_Recorder_with_Motion_Detection.html

Installed in a similar place too, just tucked up onto the dotted section on the screen to try and hide it. Wired through the headlining, inside the passenger side a pillar and into the fuse box. Used piggyback connectors to take permanent and ignition on feeds and bingo!

Also luckily had a small screen which I can plug into the RCA to set up and view recordings etc.

I think it's a nice bit of kit for not much ££££. Looks discrete too.

Im looking at the 0803 cam and wiring it to my rear view dimming mirrors power. And also a 0803 in the back window running off the 12v socket in the boot.
