I am on California 91 shell gas. Would you suggest certain settings for map 6 for my car? Or am I limited to map 1 only?? I thought I would be able to be close to APR stage 1 (300whp/350wtq) numbers with a JB4. Thanks for all your help man.

You're going to need some better gas to get closer to 300whp. A downpipe couldn't hurt. Map1 on 91 won't do it.

The JB4 sets boost at what you target (preset via Maps1 and 2 or user settings via map6). If you want balls to the wall in 3rd gear thru 6th but not 1st or 2nd (because it just roasts the tires) you set 1st and 2nd gear to 0.1

At 0.1 it does not use the JB4 settings for those gears but rather the stock boost curve. This will limit needlessly having to throttle back to keep the tires from spinning.
Good info what would happen if you put a value of 0.2 or 5.0

I'm currently working with George getting my Map 6 fine tuned, and I forgot to ask him a question- When you change Map settings, does it still take the ~25-30 miles for the ECU to adapt to these NEW settings like it did when the JB4 was installed initially? Here's a couple of my latest logs. Southern California 95 degree weather. Pulls were back to back within 2-4 minutes of eachother. Yes, I know i need an intercooler :p

From my testing it looks like it's instant for changes. I usually ignore the first WOT pull just in case.

Lots of timing pull and very little timing advance usually means too high boost settings. 147° IAT's could also play a part too.

Ya, we're going to lower the boost from 5500-7000 by 1 and see how that works. Thank you for your input, it's much appreciated.

Was this a 2nd gear pull? You need to log WOT in 3rd gear from ~2500 to 6500 RPM and continue into 4th gear for an additional 3-5 seconds for good data. Also spread the screen (with your fingers) to display full throttle data only or upload to datazap.

I've found that you can add boost until your ECU starts to pull timing or IAT's climb too high.

Tested with more aggressive top end (max add 7psi @6000rpm), seemed to increase more timing pull per cylinders.
Dropped to max 6.7 which seems to be fine... even though on 4th gear boost increased to quite high.. Will test more on next saturday. What psi max stock IS38 + stock exhaust is able to provide in top end?

2000 3psi

Anyone one else having issues with Map6 setting it's own targets? If I target 20psi at 6,000 rpm and save (and I have confirmed it's saved my settings by disconnecting, closing the JB4 software and reopening/connecting....still says 20 at 6k) when I run a log it will only target 18 psi (and hit it, which is good). Even if I change 6500 and 7k to 20psi thinking maybe it is seeing those targets and ramping down boost...still won't target anything but 18 at 6k.

I understand it may not be able to hit what I request (say I put 25psi at 6k), but shouldn't the log show it requesting what I want at said rpm with a discrepancy between what i want and what it hits? I've seen other logs where there is several psi discrepancy between ask and give, but mine won't even do that, the request and actual pretty much mirror each other because it changed the target on its own.

I'll double check some of my logs tonight.

Yes, mine has always been like that with more aggressive settings at high rpm.

There is a safety nanny in place if its 9.5-10 overstock request. Try make 6cyl timing logging value 1 and see if you get request.
