Hey all. Is $1600 a fair price for coilovers, alignement, and downpipe install? Thats the price I was quoted from a reputable euro specialist shop in my area. Anyone happen to have any recommendations around the triad, NC area? Thanks.

I can see it maybe reach $1,000 in labor at most... you are providing the aftermarket parts, right?

The Golf R DP install costs a bit more bc they need to remove the driveshaft and replace the bolts... I got my DP installed for $400, me providing the replacement bolts and the DP itself ofc...

The alignment costs me $100, but my car doesnt have ACC.... I just went back to look at the receipts, from my local euro shop in Miami, where labor isnt cheap.

I paid a hair over $1,000 for my suspension install + alignment. Not sure how much a DP should add to the cost since I did mine myself but I would venture to guess you can find a place to do it for less.

I haven't done coilovers on this car, but they did it on my MK5, I remember it being $400-500.... That's kind of crazy? One grand incl. alignment? Maybe the DCC and ACC?

If that's the case, then OP isn't that far off anymore with his quote...

I don't have DCC and I'll double check the invoice but I doubt they recalibrated the ACC. One shop did quote recalibration as part of the install and just that was $400 of their price. And at the beginning of my search for an installer I had a shop quote me over two grand. That might've been a "fuck off kid" price but it took a few tries to find someone to do it for ~$1,000.

I'm price shopping clutch installs right now and the prices vary a fair amount ($300-400 from high end to low end) so maybe around me you just have to get lucky.

Sorry I meant AWD!

Getting the rear springs off my MK5 GTI (FWD) was sooo easy, but on the AWD cars there is more stuff on the way and that could be adding extra hours on the standard hourly rate for that work....?

That, plus an overpriced ACC calibration could be the difference and then OP isn't that far off anymore with his quote...

DCC should be more or less the same no? the extra step being unplug and plug back in the shocks...?

Ah yea, possibly. Rears on the FWD Mk7s are a piece of cake too but I could see introducing axles making it more difficult. I ended up not needing an ACC recalibration so I'm glad I didn't spend the money on it. OP should check that line item first to see if that's in there.

And you're right, DCC would only make a difference in the price of the suspension unless a shop is really charging extra to hook it up, that'd be kind of insane though.

The shop that was the cheapest to install my suspension did a great job but they're currently the most expensive clutch option by almost $600. I think even shops that do it all have their bread and butter and can cut pricing in certain places but not others. Just gotta find the shop that suits your need.

A clutch install is way harder than doing coilovers though, they need to drop the transmission, that price is probably taking that into consideration, they don't wanna do it and would rather do a few more coilover installs in the meantime lol

Thanks everyone for the input.

Its actually closer to 1500, tax and shop parts add the last 100 or so. The coilovers are about 1050 with alignment and all and the DP is 450 so it kinda sounds like yall have seen similar pricing minus the few deals here and there. I just had black forest industries quote it as well and they were about the same price minus 70 bucks or so.

Ok with taxes and all, that makes sense, its not cheap but its reasonable, if its a highly rated shop, I would go for it....

The DP install actually requires an alignment as well, as you are shifting the subframe around, so you are saving there doing all at once.
