Catastrophic turbo failure

Hello! Worst thing happened the other day. Pulled onto a motorway and my turbo failed. Pulled over asap, didn't try driving, left the engine to idle for a bit. Had to to the engine on and off a few times overall to load and unload onto a tow truck. Engine still runs as normal.

Engine is the 2ltr CRBC cr150 so identical to the GTD just smaller turbo and injectors I believe.

On my driveway, i removed the intake pipe to the turbo and found the compressor to have completely sheared off the shaft, thus destroying the compressor wheel. I removed the charge pipe to the intake manifold/charge cooler and found a few blades and loads of fine debris stuck to the gunk inside the pipe.

Removal of the throttle valve and a quick look into the manifold, I found i'd say the rest of the turbo all clumped up in the back corner. Plenty of black gunk or oil in there too. Doesn't appear to be any damage to the cooling fines/lines within the charge cooler.

Obviously I want to find out if the pistons have taken damage. As I said, the engine ran and started as normal. What are the chances there is damage?

I wanted to remove the manifold to inspect the tops of the pistons however before doing so I realised I won't be able to due to the design of the head.

What is the easiest and quickest way to check the pistons? Glow plug holes?

Would you check them whatsoever?

Any help appreciated, would like to keep using this car, too much money has gone into it which I won't get back if I scrap it.
