APRIL 2016 mods 1/?

-REPLICA AUDI RS6 rims + NS-II 225/40R18 tires (4800rmb)
AUDI SET 18x8j_225-40R18.jpg

RIMS: 18x8J ET45 (66.7mm bore, so with 66.7/57.1mm adapter)
(load is indicated at 690KG on the inside of the rims)
TIRES: NANKANG NS-II 225/40R18 92W (XL)
(cheap tires for the moment...will see how they perform and last)

I've put 250hpa/36psi to the 4 of them before switching the wheels but maybe I'll put a bit more.
Checked my 16" set and they were at 260hpa/37psi (dealer did it last month...)

Here are the result before/after:
3-4front1 BEFORE-AFTER.jpg
LeftProfil1 BEFORE-AFTER.jpg
3-4rear1 BEFORE-AFTER.jpg

PS:
-The place I parked is not completely flat...
(so left/right and front/rear springs are differently compressed...)
-But I did released the Parking-brake, put Neutral and rolled the car few inches backward/forward...

For the Bad side of this mod...
Here are for the weights::(
(including bore cover and bore-adapters for 18" set)

OLD with 205/55R16 91V: total 69.445kg, average 17.361kg/wheel
16x6.5_205-50R16_center.jpg

NEW with 225/40R18 92W: total 83.285kg, average 20.821kg/wheel
18x8_225-40R18_centers.jpg

So I added:
- total of 13.84kg
-nearly 7kg per axle
-av. of 3.46kg/wheel

(unfortunately, it's not a April's fool of the balance because I weighted the total set and get 14kg difference on a +/-0.5kg on our industrial-balance...)

But damn! those wheels are beautiful ! :p

Really nice wagon
Where did you get floor mats?
Thanx!

The floor-mats were purchased on Taobao (the Chinese eBay) have REALLY a lot of choice so I think I found ones that match pretty well my seats color ^^.
Plus, they have 2 layers so easy for quick clean if you don't want take off everything each time. (Quite cheap also, have all the prices of my purchase on my computer but I don't think it's relevant for Europeans and Americans Golf owners...)

So how is the ride with the heavier wheels?
Can you tell anything?
They do look good!

Yes they look pretty good both far and by close looking, thanx!

Tires look à little stretched (225 on 8" width rims) but come also a little from these Nankang' tire profiles I guess...
The handling feels way better, without the bouncing/balancing I had before.
(On Eibach springs with stock 205/55R16, it was like my tires were a secondary set of springs^^ which gave "spongy" feelings on bumps and the time the car find a stable position on long curves like in roundabouts and highway's hubs...

Feels really great now.Precise, quick response and good feedback in the steering.

It does feel "heavier" but in a good way. It's coming from the wider tires and lower sidewalls which deleted the spongy effect of the old 55R16 tires.
It's more precise like this and give better feedback on how you turned the steering... ( Not easy to express in non native language^^)

Nothing clear about the consumption yet. Have to drive a little more for this.
I'll do a consumption remark at the end of the month when I'll have more datas from my dailies home/work trips and some highway...
But I would say I'll have around around +0.2~0.3l/100kms on a tank and more around +0.5l/100kms for city driving exclusively.

Does your car have multilink rear axle? The eibach pro kit I bought for my wagon is E10-79-010-04-22 for torsion beam axle.

I have the E10-79-010-01-22:
front: (f)11-15-020-01-VA (985kg max)
rear: (f)11-15-007-15-HA (1075kg max)
-1.2/1.4TSI / Multilink rear-axle (yes)

You bought the E10-79-010-04-22:
front: (f)11-15-020-02-VA (1070kg max) (diesel engine are heavier)
rear: (f)11-70-012-01-HA (1030kg max)
-1.6TDI/2.0TDI & Torsion-beam rear-axle

...meaning your car is a TDI with rear Torsion-beam, right ?

APRIL 2016 mods 2/?

-CHROME TAIL PIPES (70rmb)

Chrome Tail pipe 1 (788 x 591).jpg
Chrome Tail pipe 2 (788 x 591).jpg
I went for an aftermarket version similar to OEM products and also with a "no-screw" fixture system.

-BOSCH AERO TWIN WIPERS A863S (129rmb)
650mm/26" + 450mm/18" wipers
This set is for Golf VII [5G1] and Golf VII Variant[BA5] and LHD
...no need pictures but can do if someone want.

I ordered 2 gear-box console-buttons sets but will receive them in at least 1 week...
These are what I have right now, stock:
gearbox buttons (788 x 694).jpg

And I'll be switching to those 2
-[MODE+Stop/Start+ESC] with new wires
-[TPMS+AutoPark+ParkSensors] with new wires
(total of 430rmb and get some free VW valve-caps as gift^^)

I don't plan in using the "mode" button because I don't have DCC so...
For the ESC, I'm not sure which configuration I'll put on this one though.
Maybe ESC-OFF + ESM-Sport I guess because I've heard it's a nice combo and give more power-feeling...

Also, I'll get some under-tray panels very soon to install and I'm seriously thinking in putting back the stock Downpipe due to:
-bad smell (I park 99% of the time in reverse and get the smell as soon as I open the door even after turning off the engine)(plus it will be hot weather soon so I'm pretty sure it sill be worst...)
-noise at moderate throttle is not beautiful at all with like resonance coming from the downpipe so me who drives like a gran'pa...
(BUT it's magical when you have heavy-foot and hear DSG-farts pretty-well when shifting above 4500rpm^^)
So I'll switch this downpipe to stock when I'll put the tunnel panel I guess...

And finally, I should receive my ECS HATCH-POPKIT in less than 2 weeks^^ (the one for MK7 Variant/Estate, yes)

Are you a mind reader???

I've been thinking about this mod for a while now, just need to get the parts as that button set (5GG 927 238E) is a China item only, not even Germany fit it which is why not many people over here know about it as the part does not exist on EKTA for Europe!

Ha ha.
No, also had this in mind for a while.
With the park assist and the park sensors, it's sad I don't have the button for the tires (even i don't really need it), just to fill the blank. But the wire harness is cheap so can make it usable by the way.
The only weird thing is the price difference between left and right "full 3" buttons... ( ordered them on internet)
-90rmb for the right side with harness
-340 rmb for the left side with harness
A little bit weird but will see when they'll arrive.(next weekend normally)

Can send me PM if you need more infos.

Should receive my ECS hatch-pop-kit Monday or Tuesday^^.

But I'm currently in the middle of a big thinking...
My local APR shop in China informed me that an APR engineer will be near Guangzhou/Hongkong For Few days AND That He Would need some stock ECU to work on our 1.4tsi 150hp/250Nm upgrade...
So he ask me to sent my ECU there for few days... and that I'll have a 50% discount when they will release the upgrade.
(So I won't be able to use my car 3~4days...)

What do you guys think of this?
Should I sent my ECU to get the 50% discount later or not?
